HOW STRONG IS YOUR TEAM?
WE’RE COMING FOR YOU, SPARTAN RACE!
Chef Edward is extremely charitable in donating labor and food for causes that he believes in.

When he began exercising to lose weight again in Feb, 2012, he received a lot of support from employees, as well as clients. He has always been interested in team-building activities with the Certe’ staff and began thinking of a team-building activity that would be challenging for his Certe’ Team. This led to a dilemma. Every day he sees everyone giving 100% towards the customers’ visions and satisfaction, working long hours, sacrificing, and accepting the countless curve balls thrown at them.
Challenges faced everyday can be very different examples, but just as challenging as a Spartan Race….
- Trucks break down or get in accidents, along with product being dropped and re-made.
- Vendors do not deliver the correct food or deliver late
- Clients order large orders for delivery in an hour
- Pulling off a themed event for 425 with less than 24 hours’ notice
- Planning a wedding on Wednesday for Sunday
- Long hours on your feet
- 3-floor establishment with lots of stairs
So, a friend mentioned the Spartan Race. He figured, perfect! He found a team-building exercise that would satisfy the appetite of people that faced challenges all day at work and had the mental capacity to endure the hardships associated.
WE ARE NO STRANGER TO PREPARING FOR THE UNKNOWN.
STRENGTH COMES IN NUMBERS
The Spartan Race is a 3+ mile (really, 4 miles) obstacle course held all over the Country. Certe’s staff team ran up and down Tuxedo Park Ski Mountain jumping over rocks, crawling under barbed wire in the mud, climbing walls & ropes, javelin throws, and trail running, 12:15 in the 85 degree blazing sun on Sunday, June 2. The whole day saw about 5,000 runners.
YES, PEOPLE ACTUALLY PAY TO DO THIS
DOESN’T LOOK IT…
BUT THIS IS A LOT EASIER THAN DINNER FOR 2,000
When the race was finished, Chef thought his staff would be calling the Labor Dept. Instead, most want to begin training for next year!
We had an 11-man team (girls, next year??) that finished #80 out of 768 teams. Most of the teams being sponsored by Gyms and other fitness associations.
YOU WILL BE TIMED, RANKED & JUDGED.
As in Catering , there is something about finishing that is totally cliché-level satisfying. It’s not every day that you get to finish something like that, with bragging rights to boot. Sometimes, you have to pull whatever last ounce of adrenaline you have left and just do it. It is a sense of accomplishment so rightfully earned, that says YOU’LL KNOW AT THE FINISH LINE.
WE RUN THE SPARTAN RACE—EVERY DAY.
We wouldn’t have it any other way.
